Addis moves fast. Minibuses in that particular blue, corrugated roofs catching light, doorways stacked along a hill. This line takes the city apart and reweaves it — skylines flattened into tilat stripes, street grids read as pattern, arches repeating like a border on a sash.

Four motifs are on the table for the artwork. They aren't exclusive — the strongest version of the line probably runs two of them against each other.

Skyline as tilat
The city's edge — towers, cranes, hills — compressed into the banded stripe language of a woven sash.
02 · Street texture
Roofs and minibus blue
Corrugated iron ridges, market awnings, that one blue every Addis minibus wears. The palette comes straight off the street.
03 · Architectural
Arches, repeated
Doorways and window arches set end to end, running like the decorated border at the hem of a meqenet.
04 · Cartographic
Streets as weave
The street grid around Meskel Square and Bole, traced until the roads read as warp and weft.
